Searching bibliographic healthcare databases will change from 31 March 2022

You may notice some changes to Medline, CINAHL, PsycINFO and the other healthcare databases when you log in from 1 April. Some of you may know this searching system by the name of “HDAS” (Healthcare Databases Advanced Search). Previously it was possible to access all of the databases from one Web page, but from April you will access each database individually. You will find that the databases look different as you will be accessing them from changed providers.

You can view what the databases will look like, download search guides, and access an e-learning module to help you search the literature effectively by following this link.

If you would prefer some refresher training with a trainer, guiding you how to search using these new platforms please get in touch with Anita in the library service. Refresher training can also be organised for teams or departments.

Retaining saved searches

Saved searches on the old version of the databases will not be available from April. Therefore, it is recommended that you keep a copy of your search strategies for ongoing projects so that these can be entered in into the new version of the databases. There is guidance (including a short video) on how to do this here. If you require further help with this, please contact Anita
